How posting a job, bidding and choosing a vendor work on Quoteable.
Posting a job
- Posting a job is free. Describe it first; you only need an account when it's ready to post.
- We ask a few questions about the job so vendors can price it without a visit.
- You choose how long bidding runs, from 4 hours to 14 days.
Getting bids
- Local vendors bid on your job, and can lower their price while bidding is open.
- You see the top 5 bids first and can open up to 10.
- We rank bids using price and Google rating. You can see all bids at any time.
- Each bid says what's included, so you can compare like with like.
- Vendors never see your name, email, phone or address while they bid.
- Beside your job, vendors see a short record of your past jobs — jobs completed, and any cancelled after picking, gone unresponsive, cancelled with bids in, or disputed. Never your name or address.
Choosing a vendor
- This vendor gets to message you. Selecting opens a private thread between you and them. Your name, email and phone stay hidden — they're never shared with any vendor.
- Every other bid closes. The vendors you didn't pick are told they didn't win. They can't bid on this job again.
- You can't switch to another bid. The other bids don't reopen. If you cancel the job after picking, that vendor is released and refunded, and the cancellation shows on your record to vendors bidding on your future jobs.
- Confirmed once they're verified. This vendor passed our pre-screen (verified phone, email, live website at their own domain, Google reviews) but their licence and insurance are still being checked. You can message them and plan the work now; the booking is confirmed once that finishes. If it doesn't, you can cancel at no cost and with nothing on your record.
Cancelling
- You can cancel a job before you pick a vendor. It only goes on your record if vendors had already bid.
- If you cancel after picking, the vendor is released and their fee is refunded, and it goes on your record as cancelled after picking.
